Image Licensing Explained
Pure Impact Studios, LLC
We want you to enjoy your photos with confidence — and without confusion. This page explains, in plain English, how image licensing works when you purchase photos from Pure Impact Studios, LLC.
Do I own the photos I buy?
You own the product you purchase (digital file or printed photo), but Pure Impact Studios, LLC retains the copyright to all images.
This is standard in the photography industry and simply means we control how the images may be used commercially.
What does “personal use” mean?
When you purchase images without a commercial license, you receive a personal use license.
✔ You MAY:
Print photos for your home
Share images on personal social media as long as the logo is visible or credit is given to Pure Impact Studios
Send images to friends and family
Use images in personal photo albums
✖ You MAY NOT:
Use images to promote a business or brand
Use images for advertising or marketing
Sell or resell images in any form
Edit images for commercial purposes
Enter images into contests or publications
Use images on business websites or business social media
What counts as commercial use?
If the image helps make money, promote a business, or support a brand, it’s commercial use.
Examples include:
Business websites
Social media for a business or nonprofit
Ads, flyers, or brochures
Product packaging
Editorial or publication use
Sponsorships or brand collaborations
Any resale or redistribution
If you’re unsure whether your use is commercial — just ask. We’re happy to help.
How do I get a commercial license?
Commercial use requires a commercial license from Pure Impact Studios, LLC.
Licenses are:
Purchased separately
Provided in writing
Customized based on how you’ll use the image
Pricing depends on:
Type of use
Length of use
Where the image appears
Audience size
Whether resale is involved
👉 Commercial licenses do NOT transfer copyright ownership.
Why do you charge for commercial licensing?
Our images are part of our business and creative livelihood. Commercial licensing ensures:
Fair compensation for professional work
Clear usage rights for you
Protection for both parties
It also allows us to keep offering high-quality photography at fair prices.
What happens if someone uses images commercially without a license?
Unauthorized commercial use is considered copyright infringement and may result in:
Retroactive licensing fees
Removal requests
Legal action if necessary
We always prefer communication first — most issues are resolved quickly once clarified.
